About ZTE in nepal

ZTE
Brings First Mobile Data Services to Nepal2005-06-13.
Nepal is to receive mobile data services for the first time under a contract between ZTE Corporation and Nepal Telecom.
Under the contract, ZTE, now the largest telecommunications equipment supplier in Nepal, will provide 10,000 lines of GPRS data services, offering customers continuous high-speed wireless connection to the Internet. ZTE will also supply one million lines of GSM equipment to build a state-of-the-art network to cover the Kathmandu valley following the dismantling and relocation of all the existing base transceiver stations (BTSs) in the valley.

"We are delighted that Nepal Telecom has continued its partnership with ZTE," said Mr Zhang Renjun, VP of ZTE Corporation in South Asia. "This is a measure of ZTE´s ability to supply cost-effective, world-class telecommunications solutions to meet operators´ needs."

This is the latest partnership between ZTE and Nepal Telecom: last year the Corporation announced that it is to supply Nepal Telecom with one million lines of CDMA equipment - the largest telecommunications project in Nepal´s history.

ZTE´s GSM cellular mobile system has been deployed in over 20 countries around the world, with over 40 million subscriber lines.
